Released last year as a homemade edition of 100 copies and sold during Record Store Day, The Acid Documents is re-released this year, remastered as a digipak CD, adorned with artwork created by Japanese artist 2Yang. American DJ HIEROGLYPHIC BEING, aka Jamal Moss, pushes the boundaries of electronic music by exploring the experimental and pioneering sounds of Afrofuturism. From the Acid House sounds of Chicago, inspired by Frankie Knuckles to Phuture, and Marshall Jefferson, to the cosmic experimental music of Sun Ra, the Chicago-native artist invites us into his unique universe on The Acid Documents. What defines HIEROGLYPHIC BEING's music is the duality between his perpetual desire to push the boundaries of sound with his electronic DIY philosophy and his position as an heir to the history of Black American music. Moss successfully integrates himself into "Great Black Music" while incorporating elements of industrial music, German electro (Cluster, Harmonia), the wild techno of Detroit (Atkins, Saunderson, Craig), and many other sources of inspiration.
