Hermon Mehari's second album, 'A Change For the Dreamlike', takes a more personal turn. The songs are played like personal diary entries, versions and visions of wishes, fantasies, and memories. Together, they create a kind of modern mixtape of dreams, in every sense of the word, in which the trumpet is a vulnerable presence. The dreams explore themes such as his family's African heritage, his Midwestern American sensibility, and his emotional feelings related to racial issues.
