F.A. CULT (vinyl)

Description

"What a slap in the face!" --- MAGIC ---. "ROCKSTARLARI" IS ONE OF THOSE COLORFUL GEMS WE WON'T LET GO OF THIS SUMMER..." --- ROLLING STONE ---. "LONG GONE IS THE TIME WHEN RENNES WAS THE CAPITAL OF FRENCH ROCK. TODAY, IT'S HAPPENING IN STRASBOURG. TWO YEARS AFTER T/O, THEIR LABEL MATES FROM OCTOBER TONE, HERMETIC DELIGHT, PROVIDE STUNNING CONFIRMATION." --- MAGIC ---. What strikes first about Hermetic Delight is drummer Delphine Padilla, who pounds her instrument with an relentless mix of power and precision. What strikes next is the voice of singer Zeynep Kaya. Originally from Ankara, Turkey, Zeynep Kaya cut her teeth in the basements of feminist indie rock. Then she came to Strasbourg to take a closer look at opera singing and joined Hermetic Delight. Her trilingual singing (English, French, and Turkish) cuts through the music like a bird diving through clouds charged with electricity. Atef Aouadhi, who creates the compositions and plays guitar on stage, crafts this kaleidoscopic nebula of moving sounds. Until F.A. Cult, Hermetic Delight had a reputation for being a rather dark band. It is always night in the city, modern and ancient at the same time, like Strasbourg, which the band traverses, passing under streetlights. This album listens like a nocturnal and urban reverie, whose dark zones David Lynch could have imagined. But it also brings in light, white and dazzling like an avalanche that carries away the songs. This is the pop side of the band, masters of the genre.
