Lyricist and multi-instrumentalist Roberto Carlos Lange, better known as Helado Negro, releases ‘Phasor,’ his fourth album (and second on 4AD), weaving together memories, impressions, and atmospheres into idyllic soundscapes. Recorded at his home in Asheville, North Carolina, with the help of his partner Kristi Sword, the 9 tracks on ‘Phasor’ exude great softness, from their vibrant melodies to the detailed images recounted in English and Spanish. ‘Phasor’ explores oscillations—between spouses, friends, humans, music, and animals: a collection of ethereal tracks built around a baritone guitar, resulting in a luminous album of Latin folk with dream pop undertones.
