During his interview, Kalkaba explained how the songs recorded in the mid-1970s were part of a movement initiated by musicians across Cameroon who, using keyboards, drum kits, and electric guitars, had begun to modernize the traditional rhythms of their regions. The same was true for Kalkaba, who, backed by his band the Golden Sounds, dedicated himself to promoting the sounds of northern Cameroon.
