Wewantsounds continues its reissue program of Bob Shad's cult label, Mainstream Records, with this superb album by Hadley Caliman, Iapetus, released in 1971. Recorded in Los Angeles with a top-tier lineup of West Coast scene stalwarts — including Todd Cochran, Woody ‘Sonship’ Theus, Luis Gasca, and Victor Pantoja — the album was largely composed by Todd Cochran (aka Bayeté) right after his contribution to Bobby Hutcherson's Head On (Blue Note). A true gem of 70s Spiritual jazz brimming with Fender Rhodes, Iapetus is reissued on vinyl for the 1st time since 1971 with original artwork, rare session photos, remastered audio, and a two-page insert with exclusive liner notes by Todd Cochran, recounting his relationship with Hadley Caliman and the genesis of the record.
