Gutvoid was formed in Toronto, Ontario by Daniel Bonofiglio (guitar) and Brendan Dean (guitar and vocals), quickly joined by Justin Boehm (bass) and D. W. Lee (drums). Blending modern death and doom vibes with progressive rock and metal compositional foundations, Gutvoid creates a monster overflowing with visceral riffs, cavernous vocals, and prog virtuosity. With the release of the "Astral Bestiary" EP in 2019, their debut album "Durance of Lightless Horizons" in 2022, and their latest effort, the "Breathing Obelisk" EP in 2024, Gutvoid has continued to develop their style, focusing on more elaborate and intentional song structures, while deepening their aggression and technicality. The upcoming album "Liminal Shrines," the first part of a diptych, reveals a band more complex, aggressive, and creative than ever, exploring and deepening their horrific and cosmic atmospheres and origins. "Liminal Shrines" was recorded at Boxcar Sound Recording, Mount Wexler, and Dystonic Sounds, mixed and mastered by Greg Dawson and BWC Studios, and its cover art was designed by Kjell Åge Meland.
