Description

Football, cycling, Olympism, tennis: if the summer days are a time for major sporting events, they are also, for the past four years, the time that Guts and Mambo have chosen to release their annual Beach Diggin' production. For this fourth volume, the duo left their preferred zone of Trinidad and Tobago to dive into Jamaica, reach the Brazilian coast to cross the country from East to West and arrive in Peru. They then crossed the Pacific to reach Japan, slid down to Australia, then set sail for South Africa. They hugged the continent, passed through Tunisia, and finally finished their selection in France. The worldwide harvest once again proved fruitful in rare gems, sometimes unique in their kind, found in damaged shells or as the sole survivors of successive and destructive passages by major record collectors. Patiently collected and selected, Guts and Mambo then arranged them to form a vinyl barrier and create an atoll preserved from the auditory pollution that music industrialists release by the ton when summer comes. Jazz-funk, samba-rock, disco, soul, reggae: the variety of styles and atmospheres is once again present for this 2016 vintage. A year that sports fans will remember as the one of the Euro football in France and that music lovers will remember as the one when Bowie, Maurice White and Prince went to find eternal inspiration...
