guccihighwaters is the artistic persona of Morgan Murphy, a 21-year-old artist/producer. Since his first single in 2017, Murphy has exploded onto the cloud rap (or trillwave) scene and his music has been streamed over 200 million times. His new album, *joke's on you*, is his first for Epitaph Records and will be his first available on vinyl. guccihighwaters is the cornerstone of the label's commitment to a sound that we believe represents the future of alternative music. Murphy spent his formative years in rural Ireland. He was shy, and when his family returned to his native New York, the shy 15-year-old turned to bedroom production and started making his own beats. He began to fulfill his musical vision by exploring online communities, finding a sense of belonging he hadn't found before. As a singer, Murphy was a bit of an outsider in the Soundcloud rap world he had started to frequent. "I was grouped together because of the time, place, and platform," he explains. His use of original piano with a classic touch and his angelic vocals gave him an original voice in the crowded scene. Even if he wanted to blend in, he didn't know how. With *Jokes On You*, he says, "my goal was essentially to make it sound like me." Some members of this community, like Powfu and nothing,nowhere, are featured on the album, adding their voices to Murphy's distinctive sound.
