Guarneri String Quartet - The Complete RCA Album Collection

Description

The Guarneri Quartet, one of the most important string quartet ensembles of the second half of the 20th century and formed around Rudolf Serkin's Marlboro Festival in the early 1960s, has always impressed with a full string sound, subtle phrasing, and captivating musicality. They were somewhat underrepresented in Europe, due to their rare concerts here. But their 1966 recordings of the piano quintets by Brahms and Schumann with Artur Rubinstein also attracted a great deal of attention here. And their later, mostly complete recordings of works by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and Bartók are still considered milestones today. Their complete RCA recordings from 1965 to 2005 are now available on 49 CDs, collected and perfectly restored, including 9 recordings that can be heard on CD for the first time and one previously unreleased recording.
