The tracks on Phase 5 constantly oscillate between two states, shifting forms with unsettling ease. With a sleight of hand, \"Field Tone\" transforms from dark, John Carpenter-esque electro into rhythmic vocoder-driven space disco. \"Dragon Pine\" moves from cosmic dub to cybernetic dancehall, then returns to its starting point. The uptempo, darkwave-tinged track \"Aeolian Crossing\" dissolves into nothingness, like sand slipping through fingers, like a receding wave. The artwork for Phase 5, designed by Shawn Reed, features purple lilies and light refracting through water. All tracks on this album were mastered by Ruud Lekx.
