Description

To my right, Cheveu, a French trio that constantly challenges preconceptions by creating a soundtrack on the edge of many genres. To my left, Group Doueh, a Saharan combo that crosses stylistic boundaries, blending tradition with innovative discoveries. At the heart of the matter, a soundclash between two universes light-years apart in the musical galaxy. Two ways of experiencing music daily, two ways of transmitting, two ways of enchanting, or not, the world, two relationships to repertoire, to tradition, to creation, two visions of the collective—the list is long of what could, at first glance, have prevented them from ever meeting, from ever getting along. This album was like a somewhat surreal challenge, an almost impossible mission where time would matter. The result: a telluric big bang, an atomic creation, a story of "primitive" energies that resets the clock to the rhythm of the Whole World. Hear two such different understandings of time. Back to the future in the imperfect subjunctive.
