Grizzly Bear - Chris Bear, Ed Droste, Daniel Rossen, and Chris Taylor - spent no less than two years building "Painted Ruins." Taylor produced the album at Allaire Studios in New York, as well as in Los Angeles, notably at his own Terrible Studios. "Painted Ruins" follows "Shields" (2012), which was a critical and commercial success. Debuting at #7 on the Billboard 200 and being nominated for Apple iTunes Album of the Year, "Shields" allowed the band to perform on Colbert, Fallon, Letterman, Austin City Limits & Ellen, while filling the halls of Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
