Grind Over Matter

From the mid-90s to 2005, Swedish outfit Defleshed produced a potent blend of thrash, death metal and grindcore, establishing themselves as one of the most important bands in all three genres. Lacking inspiration and wanting to try other things, they ended their run the same year their fifth album Reclaim The Beat was released, and since then fans have been clamoring for their reunion. In 2021 they got what they were asking for when the core of the band - guitarist Lars Löfven, drummer Matte Modin and bassist/vocalist Gustaf Jorde - reformed. "We just wanted to record a couple of songs to be included in a vinyl box set," says Jorde. "The songs turned out good and the process was satisfying, so we decided to try and make a full album." The result is the corrosive Grind Over Matter, 11 blistering songs in 34 minutes, proving not only that the band still has what it takes, but that they are playing at the top of their game.
