Green Day is one of the most successful rock bands in the world, and was named the best punk rock band of all time by Rolling Stone. Formed in the early 90s, influenced by late 70s British punk, the American trio took a more mainstream turn by incorporating catchy hooks and harmonies into their loud and energetic sound. They popularized punk rock in the US and even filled stadiums, especially after the release of "Dookie" in 1994, which sold 15 million copies worldwide.
