Piano Music, Vol. 2
Description
The Viennese composer, conductor and pianist Wilhelm Grosz was a musician of remarkable versatility and considerable influence. From a very young age, he was acclaimed by critics for his Symphonic Variations on an Original Theme, of great technical virtuosity, described as a "dramatic symphonic poem unfolding to symphonic grandeur - on a single instrument." The "Little Sonata" stands out for its great depth and clarity of expression, while the waltz transcriptions are part of the context of the craze for Johann Strauss II in 1930s London. The highly original "Three Pieces" were rediscovered shortly before this recording. Gottlieb Wallisch has performed in the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Beethovenfest in Bonn. He has made numerous recordings for various labels and collaborated with renowned conductors and orchestras. In 2012, he was named a Steinway Artist.Buy Piano Music, Vol. 2 at the best price
