Description

This second self-titled album by this acclaimed transnational experimental trio (Serbia/Germany/Austria) merges traditional Balkan vocalizations with feedback, electronic sound generators, pulsing bass, and hypnotic drumming. Gordan reflects the mysticism of the legends and stories from the Balkan region, creating music that lies between expressiveness and abstraction, tradition and the avant-garde. The visceral singing of Svetlana Spajic (Marina Abramovic, Robert Wilson, Antony and the Johnsons) is both rooted and deeply interpretive. Drummer Andi Stecher (STECHER, Billy Bultheel, Orchestre Les Mangelepa) and Guido Möbius (bass and electronics) employ sound strategies that guide the songs in inspired and unpredictable directions.
