Broken Ankles EP

Description

Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis, from Pittsburgh) has been meticulously building sample-based music since 2000. His early work was known for its raw, experimental nature, but by the release of his 2006 album, *Night Ripper*, this style evolved into celebratory, fast-paced jams. *Night Ripper* consists of over 300 songs, from widely disparate genres and eras of Top 40, mixed and layered into a coherent collage. The album garnered critical acclaim, and the attention translated into rapid fan growth. A year later, Gillis eventually quit his job as a biomedical engineer. Girl Talk continued to develop his characteristic style with the release of *Feed the Animals* in 2008 and *All Day* in 2010. Each album became increasingly detailed and complex. He toured regularly over the following years, bringing his famously confetti-covered, sweat-drenched performances to venues ranging from house party basements to large festivals. In 2014, Gillis started focusing on collaborative work, producing hip-hop for some of his favorite artists. That same year, he released "Broken Ankles," an EP with Freeway. Since "Broken Ankles," Gillis has steadily earned an impressive list of production and collaborative credits with his artistic contemporaries, including, but not limited to, Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, Tory Lanez, Young Nudy, Bas, Cozz, Erick The Architect (of Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, and Don Q. His latest collaborative album in 2022, "Full Court Press" with Wiz Khalifa, Big KRIT, and Smoke DZA, made waves, paving the way for an exciting new wave of Girl Talk music.
