Sinfonie pour violoncelle & basse continue
Description
A discovery of a virtuoso cellist composer from the first half of the 18th century in Italy, Giovanni Battista Costanzi. Giovanni Sollima, founder of the Arianna Art Ensemble, continues to do justice to G. B. Costanzi, (1704 - 1778) an overlooked composer despite his brilliant talent, very active during the pivotal period between the Baroque and Classicism. With this new album of Sinfonie per violoncello, Sollima once again reveals this melodic inventiveness and harmonic freedom that are the hallmark of Costanzi, while demonstrating total mastery of all the technical challenges of these works clearly written by and for a virtuoso cellist, sometimes two in certain sonatas. This recording concludes with great poetic coherence on a composition (The Hunting Sonata) that is based on the Sonata for two cellos whose title "Del'usage du Cor de Chasse" suggests a program! Undeniably modern, G. B. Costanzi truly deserves to be (re)discovered.Buy Sinfonie pour violoncelle & basse continue at the best price
