Here is the second volume of the complete piano works of Earl Wild! Earl Wild (1915-2010) was unquestionably one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. His vast repertoire, his astonishing virtuosity, his warmth and charm earned him the title of legend. A great improviser, he frequently performed his own fantasies during his concerts. Fortunately, he wrote down these wonderful pieces, and his work includes a multitude of transcriptions, fantasies and paraphrases, as well as original compositions for piano. This CD presents the complete recording of Wild's famous transcriptions of Rachmaninoff's lieder. Rachmaninoff was of course one of the greatest pianists of all time, and the piano writing of his lieder is virtuosic and dense, a true challenge for the performer.
