Following 2022’s ‘A New Kind of Love’, ‘A Trip To The Moon’ sees GFO - Ghost Funk Orchestra, delve even deeper into the worlds of film music, exotica and psychedelic surf rock. The goal is to create a layered and collaged listening experience with more elements than you could ever pick out in a single listen. Guitars are fuzzed out and drenched in spring reverb, and the horns are arranged in a studio big band style. It’s full of big compositions with a garage rock attitude. Influences range from Eddie Palmieri and Esquivel to The Lively Ones, Dusty Springfield and War. Tracks are strung together by actual recorded transmissions from the Apollo moon missions. The album's concept is the story of a woman stranded on earth by her cosmonaut partner, left to wonder where he is and whether or not he will return from the cosmos alive.
