{"product_id":"geraint-watkins_rush-of-blood_2019_ber","title":"RUSH OF BLOOD","description":"For many years a mainstay of the bands of Nick Lowe, Van Morrison, Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, Dave Edmunds and many others, Geraint Watkins is also a revered creator of his own sublime music, much of which has already been perfectly reproduced on a handful of solo albums. Attempting to designate a musical category for Watkins is not without difficulty, but the clairvoyant Nick Lowe once stated that he could be classified as \"the missing link between Paulo Conte and Howlin' Wolf.\" Another symbol of taste – Bob Dylan – proclaimed himself a fan by playing two solo excerpts on his radio show 'Theme Time Radio Hour,' saying (without a hint of irony) that \"Geraint Watkins is my favorite English pianist.\" Which is... indeed... very complimentary... Born in Wales, Watkins was a member of renowned British bands 'Juice on the Loose' and 'Red Beans \u0026amp; Rice.' After a move to London with the latter, he quickly found himself on the 'Be Stiff Route 78' tour with Micky Jupp's band. Soon after, in 1979, Andy Fairweather Low produced Watkins' first album for the Vertigo label. A session for producer Stuart Coleman followed, which led to Geraint regularly playing in Shakin' Stevens' band before going on to record and perform live with Dave Edmunds and many others, including Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Mark Knopfler, Dr. Feelgood, Rory Gallagher, The Blues Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stray Cats, Carl Perkins, John Wesley Harding, Tom Jones, and John Martyn. Supported by these kinds of session work in the eighties, Geraint played accordion and keyboard with the infamous British pub band 'The Balham Alligators.' With Watkins leading the charge and some comings and goings, the core of this pioneering ensemble remained together for fifteen years, keeping Louisiana music alive in London pubs and setting an incredibly high bar for those who would follow them on the Americana trail. With RUSH OF BLOOD, Watkins returns to recording his own material after finding an unlikely new collaborator, Simon Ratcliffe of 'Basement Jaxx,' to push his boundaries. This unique aggregation – aided by some master musicians – has produced what will surely be regarded as the finest of his solo projects.","brand":"Geraint Watkins","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55307644731736,"sku":null,"price":20190913.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5052442013075_db28236b-4682-4030-bcf1-2cdb30989e46.jpg?v=1760296460","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/geraint-watkins_rush-of-blood_2019_ber","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
