Recorded at La Bergerie in the Corbières, with musician and producer Astrobal, Le Jazz marks a new stage in Gaétan Nonchalant's journey, following Changement de programme. The eleven songs draw equally from Californian pop and a certain tradition of adventurous French chanson, not framing jazz as a stylistic boundary but rather as an idea of freedom and openness that permeates the entire album. Between bright melodies and lyrics where doubts, memories, and projections into the future intersect, the singer develops a writing style that is both precise and offbeat, true to the universe he has been building since his first recordings. This work confirms the uniqueness of a songwriter whose every album renews the contours of Francophone music without giving up his taste for experimentation.
