Close your eyes and listen to "Diablo", and you might be transported to a German Autobahn at dusk, strobe lights flashing in your imagination. Or perhaps to a dimly lit basement, thrashing against concrete walls. We are in a place of dizzying echoes, 808 boings, sexy-menacing vocals, with lyrics full of pleasure and desire. "Diablo" is the follow-up to "Physical", Gurnsey's 2018 debut album, also on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound label. Where "Physical" followed the linear arc of a night out, "Diablo" dilates time, with a tranquil progression. Gabe's girlfriend, Tilly Morris, is both muse and collaborator.
