Scotland's Frightened Rabbit take it to the next level with a third album combining rock power, pop melodies and folk emotion! Frightened Rabbit's steady rise is set to accelerate significantly in 2010 with the release of this new album. With almost two million visitors on MySpace and over 300,000 views on YouTube, Frightened Rabbit already has a well-established fan base. But their new single "Swim Until You Can't See Land", released in late 2009, raises the bar and earned them a spot in NME's top 50 singles. Produced once again by Peter Katis in Connecticut, and recorded by Stuart Hamilton in Scotland, this third album boasts incredible string arrangements by German artist Hauschka. With The Winter Of Mixed Drinks, the band takes a leap forward and expands its sonic horizon. What was once a one-man project has become a well-oiled quintet on stage, as they demonstrated in late 2008 in France opening for Death Cab For Cutie and then Department of Eagles. An obvious maturity achieved on stage and on record, in a relatively short time, thanks to a busy schedule! While Midnight Organ Fight took shape through body metaphors, its successor is full of nautical references. Their first single "Swim Until You Can't See Land" testifies to this, with its central theme of rejecting habits and behaviors perceived as normal by the majority, a total abandonment for a reset of mind and body. And this new beginning is the perfect analogy to introduce this new album.
