To begin his recording career on the Pentatone label, Ian Bostridge revisits the famous and highly demanding Winterreise by Franz Schubert. This album marks the start of a new cycle for the tenor, consisting of three albums that will complete this reinterpretation of Schubert with the Swan Song and Die schöne Müllerin. The role of accompanist for this foundational piece goes to conductor and composer Thomas Adès. Ian Bostridge already leads an important international career with the labels EMI and Virgin Classics, having worked with the most prestigious orchestras. In 2014, finding a bit of respite in his hectic career, he decided to join forces with Thomas Adès for the first performances of Winterreise across Europe. Pentatone presents here the first installment of this new series dedicated to Schubert, in an audiophile hybrid SACD format, a hallmark of the label.
