Description

François Virot is a hyperactive musician from Lyon. Precocious, François is a bit like one of those internet generation miracle children who tried and experienced everything so early that by 20, they are already old sages. Learning guitar at a reasonable age to imitate Kurt Cobain, Prong, and Bryan Adams, discovering Jesus Lizard, The Melvins, and Sonic Youth ("but I didn't like Sonic Youth much") two years later, forming his first punk-crust band (Les Casseroles Brûlées, influenced by The Ex) at twelve. In addition to solo music, with an acoustic guitar on his lap, he plays drums (very loudly) with his brother Charles in a ballistic pop-noise trio called Clara Clara, invents marvelous side-projects (including Sea Ahoma, two drums and a guitar), and spends most of his time on the road making audiences levitate in the back of basements and selling one of his 17,839 demos, hand-packaged and taped for the occasion. And the next day, he hits the road, to Canada, to Germany, to the bottom of your street, records a few covers of Jay-Z or Jobim, sees his reflection in a campfire, and releases his first official album almost simultaneously. Released in 2008, 'Yes or No,' François Virot's first solo album, left a lasting impression. This album was unlike anything known in our regions with its rough and grating folk, both joyful and hyper-melancholic, its acoustic swell of handclaps, makeshift percussion, and tortured guitar strings. The end of this year marks the great official return with the release of 'Marginal Posts,' a new album after a few demos scattered here and there on the internet that already hinted at great things to come...
