Description

Cylene II is an album born from the collaboration between François J. Bonnet & Stephen O'Malley, initiated in 2018 and continuing uninterrupted since, taking shape in a myriad of contexts ranging from recording sessions to concerts and tours. Cylene II bears witness to these various contexts, offering a multifaceted sonic signature developed on different occasions. The epic opening track "Four Rays (Anti Divide)" features other musicians for the first time - in this case, a wind quintet - thus expanding the duo's sonic palette without betraying the fundamental component of their music: the driving of sonic energy. They present tones and resonances minimally, while icy harmonic sections slowly rise with massive physicality to an orchestral degree. For the listener, Cylene II is a sound that starts from the depths and rises to the distant firmament in its careful movement, drawing visceral emotions from the chest, giving rise to the soul's suggestibility.
