Thierry Wolf and Frédéric Lai (the composer's son) have selected around ten DJs, including several iconic figures of French Touch, who have left their mark on mythical collections like Hôtel Costes. These artists, renowned for their creativity and expertise, have been entrusted with the task of breathing new life into Francis Lai's work by reinterpreting some of his most emblematic compositions. The DJs, free to choose the tracks they wish to reinterpret, often surprise by opting for lesser-known Francis Lai pieces, but for deeply personal reasons. For example, Play Paul (Paul de Homem-Christo), well-known in the electronic music world and younger brother of Guy-Manuel from Daft Punk, chose the track "Robert & Robert" because it was the last music he listened to with his father before his passing. Philippe Cohen Solal from Gotan Project, who has a particular attachment to "L'Amour est bien plus fort que nous," chose the title of this song as an epitaph for his parents' grave. Whether for poignant memories or more joyful moments, all the DJs share the same passion: to reinterpret Francis Lai's work and give it new life, while passing it on to new generations. A unique project that blends heritage, emotion, and musical innovation, and which, through these remixes, allows us to rediscover Francis Lai's musical universe in a new light, while paying homage to his pioneering spirit.
