Description

Francesco Tristano is a Luxembourgish composer and pianist. He composes classical and electronic music, and has already released several records for labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Get Physical and InFiné. Today Francesco returns to his first passion with a selection of 15 beautiful new piano compositions. Piano Circle Songs invites the multi-award-winning Canadian pianist and composer Chilly Gonzales on 4 tracks, including "Tryst" written by the latter. It was important for Francesco to capture the intimacy of the music in both the recording and post-production phases. By deliberately placing microphones as close as possible to the instrument, he wants the listener to feel as if they have "an ear inside the piano." The album's theme reflects the cyclical nature of the pieces themselves; many of the compositions follow an ABA cycle or an expanded variation. Francesco drew his inspiration from a chance conversation with Chilly Gonzales and reflections on his children's behavior.
