Plouf! (Leviathan)

Description

Ten years ago, Flavien Berger released Léviathan, his first album after Gilded Glaze (2014), a fully instrumental and electronic EP, and Mars Balnéaire (2014), which told the story of a journey to the red planet. A first album that began his "pop trilogy," in which love ballads blended with underwater explorations. Today, for its anniversary, Flavien returns with a completely reinvented version of his tracks, not as a simple reinterpretation exercise, but as a quest into the past to rediscover his music. Here, Flavien abandons his usual creative process to open himself up to collaboration, because Plouf ! (Léviathan) is also the story of a plunge, that of a first collective adventure with musicians he has always dreamed of working with: Michelle Blades (guitar), Kiala Ogawa (keyboards), Akemi Fujimori (bass), Cédric Laban (drums), and Thibaud Merle (winds). Revisiting songs, readapting them, is a way to explore forgotten musical landscapes, to cross them again in a different light, with a different perspective. Transforming an electronic and solitary record into a collective work, by exploring new textures and instrumental approaches. Through this album, Flavien Berger uses his early tracks as raw material from which to extract the essence to create a new object. The result is a new sonic exploration where the tracks from Leviathan take on unprecedented forms, sometimes faithful to the original songs, sometimes entirely reinvented, where the old and the new merge.
