Description

Féfé returns with a third album where he explores the entirety of a sound palette that he has continued to enrich since the time he worked within the rap collective Saïan Super Crew. To his already vibrant array of soul, rock, Caribbean, and French chanson influences, he adds an essential African touch, the result of an indispensable return to his roots. This is evidenced by his duet with Ayo, this "sister" of the Nigerian diaspora, on Naija (the nickname given to Nigeria by its inhabitants). In On est là, he goes back to the sources of rap, to that mental gymnastics, that innate sense of virtuosic prosody that has made him one of the master jugglers of Francophone hip hop. While in Avec toi, he refers to song, often French, conceiving a marquetry of words from titles, snippets of text borrowed from his masters, from Rita Mitsouko (Marcia Baïla) to Jacques Brel (Ne me quitte pas) through Kery James, Fela, Stevie Wonder, or Gainsbourg. Also noteworthy are the contributions of Tété A nouveau and -M- on the touching Le réveil. Designed with the help of Chilean multi-instrumentalist Felipe Saldivia (Christophe Mae, Kendji Girac...), produced by Fred Savio (Soprano, Orelsan, Zaho...), Mauve is the complete album of a mature Féfé, the one where he tells his story, his travels, where he shares his hopes, embracing all the colors of life, all the nuances of a music that resembles him, French in language, Afro-universal in rhythm.
