Faye Webster’s songs speak directly to the human unconscious, and her fifth album, *Underdressed at the Symphony*, tells the story of what happens when you start building a new self from the ashes of old habits. Recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas with her long-time band, *Underdressed at the Symphony* features the sparkling pedal steel arcs of Matt Stoessel, the plaintive yet relaxed drumming of Charles Garner, and the guitar playing of Wilco’s Nels Cline. The album's title refers to Faye Webster's post-breakup compulsion to attend symphonic concerts on a whim, usually buying a ticket at the last minute. This nuance of lightness despite a melancholic framework permeates the album and is the main driving force behind the track “Lego Ring,” featuring Atlanta star Lil Yachty, the album's sole guest. Yachty's spectral vocals float beneath Faye's voice, piercing the empty space, trembling over a bass rumble.
