Written partly during their tour for "Near to the Wild Heart of Life" in 2017, this album marks both a return to roots and an exciting step forward for the Vancouver duo. Brian King (guitar-vocals) and David Prowse (drums-vocals) sought to create tracks they would love to play live, without sacrificing the nuance and ambition of their previous album. The single "Chicago" perfectly embodies this energy, with romantic chords and snare drum explosions. Recorded in Vancouver with their longtime collaborator Jesse Gander, the album captures the raw essence of their music. "The first demo of 'Chicago' recorded in 2020 already sounds like the final version," says King. "That's the ideal situation for us: having a track that rocks from the start, something really exciting."
