Magical Thinking, Farao's third studio album, explores the complex path between grief, longing, and transformation, drawing inspiration from Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking. Between Oslo and Berlin, its songs blend '90s R&B, '80s disco, and spiritual jazz, supported by Farao's intimate voice and sophisticated arrangements. The album invites listeners to traverse the delicate territory of loss and resilience, where grief is not resolved but carried. Tracks like "Waiting for You" and "Spiritual Garden" oscillate between nocturnal grooves and sonic meditations, while "Dreamy Ride" and "Hey Ladies" infuse lightness and fantasy. The reinterpretation of Brandy's "Full Moon" and the interlude "Xiang Xiang" punctuate the album with personal and emotional touches, highlighting the human connections at the heart of its sound world.
