Fantastic Negrito tells the story of humanity through African American music. Each song is the true story of a musician from Oakland who has experienced the highs and lows of life, from signing a million-dollar contract to a nearly fatal car accident that leaves him in a coma. And now a rebirth as a musician, despite his injured hand from the accident.
After a long break, Negrito returns to music in 2014 on the streets of Oakland. From there, things move quickly. He wins the award for best "Tiny Desk Concert" NPR in 2015, he tours with Sturgill Simpson, Solange, Chris Cornell, and Temple of the Dog, and wins the Grammy for "Best Contemporary Blues Album" in 2017 for "The Last Days of Oakland." His new album "Please Don’t Be Dead" will be released in June 2018.
