With Ventas Rumba, an instrumental album, the French composer (and singer) returns to his favorite instrument, the piano, which here blends with the sounds of the synthesizer. A "return to the roots" record, which allows Ezéchiel Pailhès to "renew himself without breaking," while continuing to explore the figures of the ballad and the refrain, between carefreeness and melancholy. As long as he can remember, Ezéchiel Pailhès has always wanted to compose a solo piano album. Nothing surprising of course for this pianist trained in conservatories, raised on classical music and then jazz! However, since his debut in 2001 with the electro-pop duo Nôze, and throughout his four albums, the artist had never stopped postponing this project that was close to his heart. It was in 2022, as he was preparing to work on the production of a record of new songs, that this old project finally came to fruition. The melodies he then composes seem to be self-sufficient, prompting him to give birth to this series of fourteen tracks, recorded between France and Latvia. With this piano-focused project, Ezéchiel wanted to start a new story, to confront a new instrument, with new sounds, far from his everyday piano that has accompanied him forever. He then chose the Una Corda piano, designed by David Klavins, an innovative instrument maker, renowned for his unique pianos with vertical shapes and structures.
