Fallen from the sky, the gothic and metal music of Evanescence has landed on this side of the Atlantic. It is with this sweet violence that the masterful voice of Amy Lee, the charismatic young singer of the band, gently settles on our ears. How to describe the music of Evanescence? For the success of Bring Me To Life can be misleading. This is not just another clone of Linkin Park, but a band influenced as much by the gothic masters (priests?) Type O Negative as by the singer Tori Amos. Between minor key guitar riffs, weeping strings, piano echoes, and electronic arrangements, the musical backdrop supporting Amy Lee's magnificent angelic voice proves to be rich and refined, reminiscent of "One Second" by the English band Paradise Lost. Don't hesitate to give Amy Lee the fabulous destiny she deserves.
