Yet, both are auditory elements of our human existence, sonic symbols that evoke memories and cultural experiences. The melody of birds and the rhythm of bells orchestrate daily life around the world, and on his debut album "bit by bit," Toronto's Evan J Cartwright adorns his sensitive, jazzy ballads with striking bird and bell recordings. Cartwright, a drummer and collaborator with bands such as The Weather Station and Brodie West, reveals himself to be a songwriter of great depth and an exploratory sound artist throughout the album's 11 seamless tracks.
