Évocations ibériques

Description

Ester Pineda - Iberian Evocations Borrowed from Evocación, the first piece in Isaac Albéniz's Suite Iberia, the title of this recording opens a musical journey spanning three centuries of composition. Like a common thread, this program creates a dialogue between rare and precious Baroque works, seldom heard on piano, and emblematic 20th-century pieces – Granados, Albéniz, De Falla, Mompou – alongside contemporary creation, with a new work by Ruiz-Pipó dedicated to Ester Pineda. As a specialist in Spanish music, the performer sheds new light on the richness and diversity of the Spanish keyboard tradition, revealing a refined and expressive musical language. Her playing, combining sensitivity and brilliance, restores the rhythmic allure and colorful flamboyance that define the singularity of this tradition. Through her interpretation, the entire soul of the Iberian keyboard is reinvented, between memory and modernity. "Every choice is, by essence, arbitrary, and this one is no exception. It inevitably leaves in the shadows composers and works that would equally deserve to appear on this recording. Nevertheless, this choice naturally asserted itself, guided partly by my desire to highlight rarely recorded pieces, and partly by an intimate sensibility, one that shapes a program as one composes a recital." (Ester Pineda)
