This third volume of the complete piano music of Erik Satie focuses on the music composed between 1892 and 1897, including stage music such as the revolutionary Upsud as well as the Danses Gothiques and the famous Vexations, written while the composer was experiencing a tumultuous love affair. The period concludes with the compositions he himself describes as "more flexible and accessible," featuring the last of the Gnossiennes and the Six Pièces froides. Nicolas Horvath has recently become one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation. A winner of numerous competitions, including the first prize at the Scriabin competition, he is known for organizing exceptionally long concerts, sometimes lasting over twelve hours, such as the performance of all of Satie's piano works.
