Golden homme

Description

Erik Arnaud is far too rare, but he also knows how to satisfy his fans. This EP indeed announces a fourth album to be released in the coming months, eight years after the release of the unalterable L'Armure (monopsone - 2009). The one who sang "Cheval" has finally gotten back in the saddle to share new songs composed in his kitchen, in his bathroom, day by day (there is always a guitar within reach in his Berrichon house). If "Golden Homme" presents itself as one of the most serene melodies he has composed, and one might initially think that all tension has eased, it is, as usual with him, a trompe-l'oeil, a clever play between cynicism and beauty. Similarly, "Golden Femme," built around a Smiths-esque guitar motif, is a vocal tightrope walk that is dizzying. At this height, Erik Arnaud rubs shoulders with the gods of "ligne claire" pop. So much for the new material. For the nostalgic, he has unearthed from his treasure chest the showstopper from... © 1998 Amerik (Aliénor): a raw demo version of "Ma Chanson Française." Likewise, as an unsatisfied perfectionist, he also has many versions of each of the songs from "Comment Je Vis" (Labels - 2001), which some consider one of the major albums of its era. This version was captured live by Erik Arnaud, alone in his apartment. Finally, as this boy is surprising, and while he was still enjoying covering Indochine on France Inter in 2009, he takes a stylistic leap by covering Daniel Balavoine's song, "Tous les Cris Les SOS," that FM earworm, while "Lover's Spit" reveals his North American loves as it is a cover of Broken Social Scene.
