Drawing from the poetic gems of Omar Khayyām's rubaiyats (quatrains), Erau dub sound takes us on the wings of a soaring, dazzling dub. Blending programmed beats, saturated or delicate keyboards, deep bass, and oriental samples, it reinterprets, in its own way, the fascinating universe of the troubadour of Nishapur. The raw sound of the melodica rubs shoulders with zarb and oud loops, giving dub a new breath. A richness evident in both form and content, creating a protean work that intertwines musical, literary, choreographic, socio-cultural, and even political dimensions. Jo Corbeau's captivating voice delivers the French translation of these quatrains in a controlled ebb and flow where the swell of centuries rumbles. The Occitan poet Roland Pécout adds his own translations and those of the legendary Max Rouquette, who, in his time, offered versions of the rubaiyats in his language of the Languedoc garrigues.
