Envy Of None is the new band and debut album from Alex Lifeson (Rush), Andy Curran (Coney Hatch), Alfio Annibalini and singer Maiah Wynne.
The ambient, cinematic darkness created by the collective evokes a powerful atmosphere that will excite both fans and new audiences alike. Lifeson and Curran’s long-standing friendship was the catalyst to the band’s formation – but Envy Of None is not defined by its members’ resumes – they are not Rush or Coney Hatch and are far more than the sum of their constituent parts.
Above the beautiful cacophony of guitars, synths, bass, and drums are the fragile melodies of 24-year-old singer Maiah Wynne – the newest name in Envy Of None’s impressive line-up. Hearing Maiah’s voice interweaved with the music will remind you of when you first heard Shirley Manson of Garbage or Amy Lee of Evanescence. Wynne brings charm and beauty to these recordings – with floating hooks and emotive lyrics transcending the often-textured aesthetic. The music this ensemble creates ventures into new ground with each track of their 42-minute debut, from industrial/electronic influences to post-progressive soundscapes. Envy Of None creates a sound that will haunt, comfort, and ignite.
