Behind the name Entrance is Guy Blakeslee, originally from Baltimore and residing in Los Angeles. This album, "Book of Changes," is his first solo album in about ten years. It documents Entrance's emotional journey towards his creative rebirth. With his vibrato and baritone voice, Guy Blakeslee takes us with him throughout his transformative journey. We can hear echoes of Jeff Buckley, Luther Perkins, Iron & Wine, and Rufus Wainwright. A self-taught guitarist, he turns his right-handed guitar to play it left-handed, often fingerpicking. On this new album, he is joined by several friends: Paz Lenchantin (who played in his band The Entrance Band, and also played with Pixies and Silver Jews), Frank Lenz (Pedro the Lion, The Weepies), and Lael Neale. Artist Amanda Charchain signs his visuals – interpreting in images the ideas sung by Guy. A collection of 10 tracks, produced by Guy, with the help of songwriter-producer-multi-instrumentalist David Vandervelde (Father John Misty, Tim Kinsella, Jay Bennnette) on mixing, as well as Chris Coady (Future Islands, Cass McCombs, Tobias Jesso Jr.) who lends his talents to the track "Always the Right Time." The album was mastered by Sarah Register (David Bowie, The Shins).
