This soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone is one of the rare occasions to hear the Maestro venture into the world of jazz. The main theme, Città Viva, is a lively and metropolitan piece. For this opus, Morricone surrounded himself with his friend and collaborator Enrico Pieranunzi (piano), Roberto Gatto (drums), and Riccardo Del Fra (double bass). Marked by a frantic rhythm, the music perfectly fits the atmosphere of the film, shot in Genoa, one of the most iconic cities of the poliziottesco, an Italian cinematic genre that was popular between the late 1960s and the early 1980s, featuring Franco Nero in the title role, one of the biggest stars of the genre.
