To mark the 20th anniversary of her first album, Emilie Simon returns to the roots of her music with her new album ES, a complete rework of her "ladybug" album, including the single “Désert”. “My next album is also my first. Yet it’s my 7th.” It’s with this riddle that Emilie Simon introduces ES, her new album accompanied by a unique solo live performance. To mark the 20th anniversary of her first album, and before the release of her new opus currently in production between France and the United States, Émilie has prepared a new version of the "ladybug" album that she has entirely re-recorded and rearranged, bringing a different light to the songs while preserving their DNA. A first of its kind, as if this cult album was getting a fresh start while retaining the modernity that made it unique in the early 2000s: “It’s a mirror game, 20 years later. A before/after. The rule was: if I had written these tracks today, how would they sound? I allowed myself everything, provided I kept their essence and the same order as on the original album. I changed the keys, tempos, harmonies, structures, arrangements, and sometimes even the melodies. I felt free and had a lot of fun. It’s also a way for me to return to my roots, my core, to celebrate it while radically taking it into my sound today. ES bridges my past and my future. I renamed this eponymous album ES, because it is my rediscovered essence and also the first stone for the projects that will follow. The circle is complete; it’s a new beginning. It’s also a desire to reconnect with my audience through these songs, which for some were our first exchange, while inviting them to discover my new tracks still in preparation.”
