EMILE PARISIEN RETURNS TO THE RECORD WITH A STAR-STUDDED SEXTET! The musician Francis Marmande described in Le Monde as "the best news in European jazz for a long time" has put together a high-flying Franco-American sextet for this new album, the seventh he has signed as a leader or co-leader with ACT. "It was time for me to return to the source of my love for this music," explains Emile Parisien. This return to his roots takes on its full meaning in the choice to collaborate here with trumpeter Theo Croker. Parisien and Croker met in 2018 on the "Jazz Animals" tour and quickly developed a strong musical connection coupled with a true friendship. The energetic presence of drummer Nasheet Waits runs throughout the album, and he forms a very tight rhythm section with Joe Martin, one of the most in-demand bassists on the New York scene. Manu Codjia and Roberto Negro, meanwhile, are two of Emile Parisien's closest musical collaborators. Louise is a remarkable album on which fierce energy and genuine sweetness coexist. The subtleties and joys emerge with each listen of a record that, more than any other to date, speaks to the exceptional character and creative personality of one of Europe's most important jazz musicians.
