Elysian Fields comes from the legendary Knitting Factory in New York, a hub of musical exploration and stylistic blending, home to the vibrant Downtown scene of the 90s. Brought together by similar life paths and a shared love for the music of the Beatles, Charles Mingus, Iggy Pop, and even Chopin, Jennifer Charles and Oren Bloedow decided to form the band in 1995. All these influences intersect and blend in their discography, with new musical colors emerging over time: Oren Bloedow began to incorporate piano into their compositions, and the band members discovered a growing attraction to folk and world music. Album after album, Elysian Fields maintains the myth of a band like no other. With "Pink Air," Elysian Fields makes a grand return. The sound of this album, the first on the Microcultures label, is decidedly more rock, recalling the band's roots.
