Difficult to find a more iconic album. This is Elvis Presley's first album and it is already one of the first albums in the history of rock (before, the genre was consumed in singles). It is a cover that says everything about Elvis (the beauty, the passion) and will often be imitated afterwards. For the future "King", it marks the turning point between his rockabilly beginnings at Sun Records and a new life as a living legend. The track listing documents this moment: it features songs recorded over a period of a year, first at Sun Records and then for RCA, his new label. No real artistic coherence, but genius everywhere, on the stripped-down ballads ("Blue Moon"), the rock reminiscent of Sun ("Blue Suede Shoes"), the barely whitened rhythm and blues ("Money Honey")... As a bonus on this reissue, the masterpiece "Heartbreak Hotel", which was not included on the original 1956 album.
